“I know there are so many programs that you can support. But what is special about The Lil Raggamuffin Summer Camp is that we are working collectively with an entire generation of youth to change the future of a community. Many of our kids are unaware of a life without this camp. We have become a tradition. Our teachings are becoming engrained in their lives.
As our first group of youth graduate highschool and look toward college they are searching for ways that they can 1 – become successful and 2 – give back to their community.
One camper Petrina Bailey is setting out to become the first doctor in the community (the nearest clinic is 1 hour away) She graduated with honors from Secondary school and is looking to attend a 6 year medical program in Cuba. Another lifelong camper - Akeem Fergusson has a dream of becoming a commercial pilot. At the age of 14 he is now one of the youngest people in Jamaica to receive his 1st flight certificate. Most of our children will be first generation high school graduates.”
